The story behind the game
The story
Beginning
When I saw the Senscape Jam ads I thought oh no again, and the second later ok I will do it. Just start with the list of themes so I guess and vote the winning theme "Memories and possibilities are ever more hideous than realities." by H. P. Lovecraft. Was the only theme that get me an idea to start.
3 Acts
The idea was simple something happened to a guy that make a crime or something lost in the memories or trying to forget. So the plan makes the traditional 3 acts.
First present the character, in this case, you have a lot of things to click and get age approx, profession, past and present.
Second, get the conflict well in the game it starts knowing something wrong it is. You saw the environment or touch some stuff and got something weird. Got more about the guy and start to ask what is happening here.
In the third act, all the things are wrong, the guy takes action and you have to solve or involve in this shit.
Modification
The 3 acts are great, and useful but need to make some modifications to get the game more challenging and "fun". So I put some clues over the game and thought if the player touches everything will get everything, I had experiences making point and click games and use to think everything more and more and the regular player only touch everything or get the hints to continue, they just want to end no matter why. So I give it that touch everything. But how I can present this. So you are an entity, a new entity you don´t know what is happened, where you are, and who you are. So the best way is experimenting and touching stuff.
Clock
It´s a jam game with two weeks and a narrative. So just move quick, think about the place, how many stages to make, the objects to interact, give a start and end to have simple gameplay, and then start growing the project. So when you have so little time to think and make this some stuff doesn´t connect fluid, some puzzles aren´t good or have that feeling that is ok but I will love to have a better idea of what happened. Well, the guilty it´s not for a Jam so move on Martín and finish the game, you will have a lot of time to make it feel better.
Result
it´s a game so I'm happy with the result. It has a narrative idea, a different focus playing like an entity tormenting and resolving puzzles. The game has three different endings with moral resolutions. Every stage has part of the story and is in the correct time and situation. The puzzles are kind of forced but not bad at all. I'm happy with this game and the future of this.
